Black Forest Cake Recipe

Written By Angela Steffi on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 | 11:17:00 PM

Black Forest Cake is an all time favorite cake made with chocolate cake base filled with smooth and soft cream and topped with cherries and chocolates. I always call this cute delicious cake as King of Cakes because it is one of my favorite cakes forever. I tasted this yummy cake for the first time when i was studying in Chennai and wondered who and how did they invent this delicious smooth cake it was literally melting in my mouth and couldn't resist myself from craving for this. It became very popular and most famous cake at that period so whenever we went for outing this was the first thing we would order in a restaurant and i can still remember the restaurant we used to have this yummy black forest cake and its price a single slice costs Rs.35 at that time.

Now for the past 3 years i never bought black forest cake from stores and i am very happy about it , because we can make the same soft and melting cake as the one which we buy from stores at home each and every time and its quite inexpensive

Serving Size          :  8 people

Preparation Time : 10 min

Baking Time         : 30 - 35 minutes

Difficulty:

Quantity Ingredients for Black Forest Cake Recipe

Dry Ingrendients
2 cup All purpose flour / Maida
3/4 cupUnsweetened Cocoa powder
2 tspBaking Powder
1 tspBaking Soda
1/2 tspSalt

Wet Ingrendients
1 cupMilk
3 largeEggs
2 stickButter (little less than 1 cup)
1 tbspVanilla extract
2 cupSugar

For Cream
3 cup Heavy Whipping Cream
1/2 cupPowdered Sugar

For Cherry Syrup
3 cup Cherry with Syrup ( 750 g)
1/4 cup Sugar

Cooking Method

Step 1) Sift all the dry ingredients together - all purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt together in a large mixing bowl.

Step 2) add the wet ingredients milk, eggs, butter, vanilla and sugar to the dry ingredients and combine well.

Step 3) Divide the cake mix into 2 halves and transfer it into 2 9 inch baking pan lined with parchment paper and bake it for 30-35 minutes at 350 F

Step 4) Cherry syrup:
In a sauce pan heat 2 cups of cherry with syrup and 1/4 cup sugar and cook until the syrup thickens. I used bottled sour cherries .

Reserve some of the cherry syrup for later use .

Step 5) If the tooth pick inserted at the center comes out clean then the cakes are perfectly done. My cakes were ready exactly after 30 minutes.
Transfer the cakes to wire rack and let it cool completely.

Step 6) Once the cakes are cooled completely slice each cake into 2 equal halves. Then apply some cherry syrup on the top of each layer to keep the cake moist and soft. This is very important step to keep the cakes soft and at the same time do not add too much syrup or the cakes will become soggy.

Step 7) Cream:
In a large mixing bowl add heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar and whisk them together until soft peaks are formed. I refrigerated my mixing bowl and the whisk for 1 hour before whisking them together.

Step 8) Assembling the cake:
Place the first layer of the cake and apply some cream on the top and then spread it evenly. Then add some cherry toppings and then place the second layer of cake and then continue the same.

Step 9) Cover the entire cake with the cream and add some chocolate shavings on the top and sides and top it with cherries.

Baking Time and Temperature:
  • Preheat the oven to 350 Fahrenheit or 175 Celsius
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes ( for 9 inch pan)
Notes:
  • Make sure that the cherry syrup and the cakes are cooled completely before adding or making the cream.Cream melts when added hot.
  • Instead of brushing with cherry syrup we can also use normal sugar water ( just boil the sugar in water for couple of minutes and spread)

Black Cake is the king of all Cakes because it is made with chocolate cake covered in a soft cream topped with cherries and chocolate shavings . The beauty of this recipe is if soft, moist and literally melts in your mouth and cannot resist over self from craving for it.

They are there for you through thick and thin, encouraging you and standing by your side no matter what. Your friends can tell it like it is. However, they can also provide some of the best laughs around. Many flowers mean friendship, so next time the mood—or occasion—strikes, send flowers to show how much you appreciate your besties.
