Written By Angela Steffi on Friday, September 2, 2016 | 11:01:00 PM

Badam is a healthy nut which is rich in vitamin E and other antioxidants which is good for our skin and also delays aging.Even though we have lot of halwas in the market none of there taste comes close to our Badam Halwa / Almond Sheera. This delicious delight is made with a blend of Badam, milk, sugar and ghee. This festive sweet is quite easy to make and tastes heavenly.

Badam-Halwa

Serving Size            : 4 people

Preparation Time   : 2-3 hours

Cooking Time         : 20 min
Difficulty:

Quantity INGREDIENTS

1 Cup Badam / Almonds
1 cup Sugar
3/4 cup Milk
2 tbsp Saffron Milk (15-20 strands of saffron soaked in warm water)
3-4 Tbsp  Ghee / Clarified Butter
pinch ofCardamom powder

Cooking Method

Step 1) Soak almonds in water for 2-3 hours and remove the skin just press it between thumb and index finger and slide to remove the skin or you can also soak the almonds in boiling water for 30 minutes to facilitate the process.

Step 2) Then grind it to a coarse paste by adding milk. Do not grind it to a very smooth paste. If you grind it a very fine paste then the texture of the halva wont be good, halwa should have a little grainy texture. This is the consistency which we need for making halva.

Step 3) Now to make halva melt some ghee and then add the badam paste mix it well then add sugar I have added 1 cup of sugar for 1 cup of Almonds. If you like it to be too sweet you can increase the amount of sugar somewhere form 1-2 cups of sugar

Step 4) Mix it completely and keep on stirring once the sugar dissolves completely add some saffron milk to get a nice color I have soaked few strands of saffron in 2 tbsp warm milk for 15 minutes.Mix it nicely in and keep on stirring. Prefer a non-stick pan to prevent the halva from sticking to the bottom.

Step 5) It may take around 15-20 minutes (on a low to medium heat) for halva to set so keep on stirring to prevent from burning and sticking.Add 1 pinch of cardamom powder (this is optional if you don’t like the flavor of cardamom you can skip). Now you can see the halva has started to set and it is detached from the sides of the pan and is rotating together. Finally you can also add a tbsp of ghee to enrich the taste of Halwa. Now we have the perfect consistency of the halva. Its time for plating you can add some slivered almonds at the top and serve.
