Coconut Chutney is a quick and easy fix side dish recipe which goes excellent with most of the South Indian breakfast like Idli , Dosa, Pongal, Vada and lot more. This chutney can be made in less than 5 minutes, all we need is some grated coconut and a very few ingredients which is always available in our kitchen. There are lot of variations we can make , we can add tamarind, dry red chilies, garlic to alter the taste, I am sharing with you a basic Coconut chutney recipe with is served in most of the restaurants. Lets s start the preparation.

Quantity | Ingredients for Coconut Chutney |

1 cup | Grated coconut (use fresh coconut) |
3 tbsp | Roasted Channa Dal (Pottu Kadalai) |
1 small | Ginger |
3 | Green Chilies |

To Temper | |
1 tbsp | Oil |
1/4 tsp | Mustard seeds |
1/4 tsp | Urad dal |
2 | Dry red chilies |
1 strand | Curry leaves |
Cooking Method |
Step 1) Grinding:
In a blender add grated coconut ,always use fresh coconut for best results (do not use desiccated coconut), also add roasted channa dal, a small piece of ginger, green chilies, salt and required water (add less at the beginning and we can add more while grinding ). Transfer this to a bowl.
Now to temper heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, once the seeds splutters add urad dal, dry red chilies and curry leaves. Mix it once and add it to the ground coconut mixture and mix well.

Ingredients:
- For Coconut Chutney Masala
- 1 cup grated cococnut
- 3 tbsp roasted chann dal
- 1 inch ginger
- 3 green chilies
- salt
- water
- To Temper
- 1 tbsp of oil
- 1/4 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/4 tsp urad dal
- 2 dry red chilies
- 1 spring curry leaves
Instructions:
- Grind coconut, roasted chann dal, ginger, green chilies , salt with some water
- Temper and ad dit to the chutney
- Our Coconut chutney is ready to be served Idli, dosa, vada and pongal

nd just pop the mistard seeds on a dry pan without oil.
