Prawns Pepper Fry Recipe

Prawns Pepper Fry is very simple, delicious and it is quite easy to make. Prawns are always my favorite sea food and it has a unique taste and and absorbs all the seasoning added to it. This pepper prawns are made with less spices and i have not added any chilly powder instead i have added only pepper powder to enjoy the fullness of taste. Freshly ground pepper powder always adds nice aroma and flavor to the recipe compared to store bought pepper powder. Then the whole spices added to the prwans also makes the dish rich and keeps it simple. 
We can make the pepper prawns dry or as gravy. I have made prawns pepper fry dry but yo can make it prawns pepper gravy by adding one tomato and some water.Always use deveined prawns to make any prawns recipe.This recipe is an awesome side dish for rice, chapathi , Roti. Any my favorite combination is with dosa.

Quantity Ingredients for Prawns Pepper Fry Recipe
1/2 Kg Prawns / Shrimp
For Grinding
1 Tbsp Pepper Corns
1 tsp   Cumin Seeds

For Pepper Prawns
3 Tbsp Oil
1 inch Cinnamon stick
cardamom pods
3 cloves
Dry Red Chilies
2(250)Onion
1 Tbsp Ginger Garlic paste
1/4 tsp  Turmeric Powder
1 tsp  Garam Masala Powder
Green Chilies

Salt to Taste

Water

Curry Leaves


Cooking Method


Step 1) In a blender add pepper corns and cumin seeds and grind it to a fine powder. Freshly ground powder smells very good so grind them freshly to get nice aroma.

Step 2) Heat oil in a pan and add the whole spices cinnamon stick, cardamom pods, cloves and dry red chilies .Give it a stir and add the finely chopped onions, also add some salt to speed up the cooking process.We need to cook saute the onions until they are nice and golden.

Step 3) Once the onions turns golden add the masalas Turmeric powder, Garam masala powder, Ginger garlic paste, Green Chilies and the freshly ground masala and mix well. Add some water to prevent the masalas from burning.Add the cleaned and deveined prawns and mix well with the masalas. Add Salt and water if required Cover and cook for 7-10 minutes depending on the size of your prawns.

Step 4) Once the prawns are nicely cooked add some freshly ground pepper powder to get more realistic and aroma.Finally garnish it with some curry leaves and turn off the heat

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 Kg Prawns / Shrimp
  • For Grinding:
  • 1 Tbsp Pepper Corns
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • For Pepper Prawns:
  • 3 Tbsp Oil
  • 1 inch Cinnamon stick
  • 2 cardamom pods
  • 3 cloves
  • 2 Dry Red Chilies
  • 2(250) Onion
  • 1 Tbsp Ginger Garlic paste
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tsp Garam Masala Powder
  • 3 Green Chilies
  • Salt to Taste
  • 1 Tbsp Roasted Channa Dal
  • Water
  • Curry Leaves


  • Instructions:
    1. Grind Pepper and cumin
    2. Saute onion with whole garam masala and the other masalas
    3. Add the prawns and cook for 7-10 minutes.
    4. Garnish and serve it hot with chapathi/ naan/Rice.
