|Quantity||Ingredients for making Appam recipe|
|1 cup||Raw rice (200 g)|
|1/2 cup||grated coconut|
|1/4 cup||cooked rice|
|required||water or coconut water|
Step 1) Wash and soak the raw rice in water for 4 hours. Drain the water and add it to a blender. Grind it to a fine paste.
Step 2) Take 1/2 cup of the batter from step 1 and add it to a pan, also add in 1 cup of water to it and cook on low heat until the mixture becomes tick like a paste. Let it cool.
Step 3) Now into the remaining batter (from step 1) add grated coconut, cooked rice and the rice paste from step 2 , required water or we can also add coconut water , grind it again until everything turns into a fine paste. Batter should be little runny.
Step 4) Transfer it to a bow and let it ferment for 8 to 10 hours.Fermentation is very important in making appam.
