Aapam is a traditional recipe of Kerala made with raw rice and coconut, this aapam is soft and goes excellent with coocnut milk, chicken curry, kadalai kulambu, sodhi and lot more. Lets see how to make this delicious aapam.

1 cup | Raw rice (200 g) |
1/2 cup | grated coconut |
1/4 cup | cooked rice |
required | water or coconut water |
required | Salt |
Cooking Method |
Step 1) Wash and soak the raw rice in water for 4 hours. Drain the water and add it to a blender. Grind it to a fine paste.
Step 2) Take 1/2 cup of the batter from step 1 and add it to a pan, also add in 1 cup of water to it and cook on low heat until the mixture becomes tick like a paste. Let it cool.
Step 3) Now into the remaining batter (from step 1) add grated coconut, cooked rice and the rice paste from step 2 , required water or we can also add coconut water , grind it again until everything turns into a fine paste. Batter should be little runny.
Step 4) Transfer it to a bow and let it ferment for 8 to 10 hours.Fermentation is very important in making appam.

Hello steffie.. Your receipes are really very helpful... In your appam recipe you have added grated coconut also along with ground batter before fermentation itself... Usually fresh grated coconut wont be good if its kept outside.. Will the coconut in the batter be good after 8 hrs since its kept outside...

ReplyDeleteIf it is too thick, blend with a bit extra of the reserved water. If it's too thin, Pay Someone To Do Research Paper add a bit of rice flour. Pour the prepared appam batter into a big bowl. After 10-12 hours, the batter should have risen/hyped up and could have little fermentation holes on top.
