Coriander Rice / Kothamalli Sadam

Coriander rice is an quick and easy lunch box recipe which can be made under 10 minutes. This rice is highly aromatic and very flavorful which triggers our taste buds. I have used basmati rice to make this variety rice we can also use regular rice to make this delicious coriander rice, lets get started.

Quantity Ingredients for Coriander Rice Recipe
2 cup  Cooked Rice (I have used Basmati rice)

For Grinding
2 bunchCoriander leaves
4Green Chilies
1 inchGinger

For Coriander Rice
2 tbspOil

1/4 tsp mustard seeds, 1 tsp Urad dal , 1 tsp Chana dal

1 Cinnamon stick , 1 bay leaf, 2 cloves
2 dry red chilies
1 tbsp Cashews or peanuts
1 Onion (medium size)

Salt to taste

Juice of half lemon

Cooking Method


Step 1)
Wash and remove the thick stem of coriander leaves, add it to a blender along with green chilies and ginger. Grind it to a fine paste.


Step 2)
Heat oil is a pan and temper with mustard seeds, urad dal, chana dal, cinnamon stick, bay leaves , cloves and dry red chilies and few cahews.Then add sliced onion and saute until golden brown. Then add the ground coriander leaves and cook for a couple of minutes until dry, add required salt.



Step 3)
Once the mixture becomes slightly dry add the cooked rice and mix well until the rice is well coated with the coriander mixture,. finally squeeze in lemon juice and turn off the heat.



That's it our delicious coriander rice is ready to go into the tiffin box along with some potato varuval and vadagam.
