2 large | Potatoes(400g ) |
2 tbsp | rice flour |
2 tbsp | Corn flour |
1 tsp | Chili powder |
1 tsp | Garam masala |

2 tbsp | Oil |
1/8 tsp | Mustard seeds |
1 large | onion (or 2 medium) |
1 tbsp | Ginger (chopped finely) |
1 tbsp | Garlic (chopped finely) |
2 | Green chilies |
2 | red chilies |
1 sping | Curry leaves |
1/2 tsp | Cumin powder |
1 tsp | Garam masala |
1 tsp | Chili powder |
Cooking Method |
Step 1) Peal the skin of the potatoes and cut them into medium sized cubes. Boil water in a pan and add the potatoes and cook for 5 minutes. Drain the water and transfer it to a bowl.
Step 2) Now to the boiled potatoes add rice flour, corn flour, chili powder, garam masala, salt and pepper. Sprinkle some water and coat the masalas with the potatoes.
Step 3) Heat oil in a pan and fry the potatoes until crisp on all the sides, drain the oil and keep it aside.
Step 4) Heat oil in a pan and temper with mustard seeds, ginger, garlic, green chilies, curry leaves and red chilies. Then add chopped onion and cook until they are browned.
Step 5) Once the onions are nice and brown add the masalas - cumin powder, chili powder and garam masala. Finally add the fried potatoes and mix it well (do not add water).
