1 cup | Chickpea flour / Kadalai maavu / Besan flour |
1/4 cup | Rice flour |
2 | Green Chilies |
1 inch | Ginger |
3 tbsp | Chopped Coriander leaves |
1 spring | Curry leaves |
1/4 tsp | Asafoetida / Perungayam / Hing |
1/4 tsp | Baking soda |
1/2-1 tsp | Red chili powder |
Required Salt | |
Water (1/2 cup approximately) | |

Cooking Method |
Step 1) Bonda Mix:
In a mixing bowl add Chickpea flour , Rice flour, chopped Onion, Green Chilies, finely chopped ginger, Coriander leaves, curry leaves, Asafoetida, baking soda and Salt. Mix it well.
Step 2) Bonda Batter:
Now gradually add water and mix well to form a semi thick batter, The batter should not be too watery nor too thick. I have used approximately 1/2 cup of water for this recipe.
Step 3) Frying Bonda:
Once the batter is ready lets fry the bondas, Oil should be on medium-high while frying, if the temperature of oil is low then the bondas will soak up lot of oil and will not be crispy.
Once all the sides are equally browned and crispy drain the oil and take it off from the pan.

Instructions:

- Add water to for a semi thick batter
- Heat oil and fry the bondas until golden brown and crispy
- Our delicious Onion Bonda is ready to be served with coconut chutney and hot coffee.
