Wheat flour Halwa

Wheat flour halwa is an instant halwa recipe which can be made in few minutes. This is a  famous sweet which is similar to Tirunelveli halwa / Iruttu Kadai halwa, it is made from wheat flour instead of whole samba wheat. It has a soft and smooth jelly like texture which will not stick to your hands and it will melt in your mouth. This is also known as gothumai maavu halwa.

Cook Time  : 20 min

Quantity Ingredients for making Wheat flour Halwa
1/2 cupWheat flour
1/2 cup Ghee
1/2 cup Sugar
1.5 cup Water
10-12 Cashews
pinch of Salt
pinch of Cardamom powder

Cooking Method

Step 1) Into a pan melt ghee (reserve 1-2 tbsp of ghee for later use). Then roast the cashews until golden and keep it aside.

Step 2) Now in the same ghee add wheat flour and roast until raw smell is gone, it takes approximately 10 minutes. Then add Sugar, pinch of salt and water (ratio of flour to water is 1:3). Mix well and keep stirring until everything comes together and ghee oozes out.

Step 3) At this stage add cardamom powder, roasted cashews and the reserved 1-2 tbsp ghee and mix well. Turn off the heat and the halwa is ready to be served.
