Quantity | Ingredients for making Parotta recipe |
---|---|
2 cup | Maida (250 g) |
1 tsp | Salt |
3 tbsp | Oil |
3/4 cup | Water |
Cooking Method |
Step 1) Into a mixing bowl add maida, salt and give it a mix. Then add water and form a soft dough, I have used a little greater than 3/4 cup of water. Transfer it to a work area and knead the dough by stretching it for 10-15 min. Then add a tbsp of oil and mix it again, it might be greasy at the beginning but soon it will come together.
Step 2) Transfer it to a bowl and apply a tbsp of oil and then cover it with a cloth and let it rest for 1-4 hours. The longer we rest the dough softer the parottas become.
Step 3) Divide it into 6 balls, apply some oil and rest it for another 30 min to 1 hr. Cover and let it relax.
Step 4) Spread the ball very thin and apply some oil, gather it together and roll it. Cover and let it sit for another 15 minutes.
Step 5) Now press it to flatten and place it on a medium hot tawa and cook until golden and well some. Apply some oil if required.
Step 6) Beat the parottas while it is hot and serve it with your favorite curries.
Happy Cooking !!!
Hi! I have a small query. I have been using this very recipe in the past 2 times while making Parotta. 1st time was a hit, it came out really good. But during the second time today, I found it very difficult to stretch the dough in the last step. The dough was so elastic and was shrinking back. Since I couldn't press dough properly(in last step) parotta was little bit thick :( Will you advice on what could have gone wrong? Thanks for the awesome recipe by the way! =)
