Garam Masala Powder Recipe

Garam masala is a blend of all aromatic Indian spices like coriander, pepper, cumin, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom....  which can be used in many other recipes to add flavor and taste especially in non veg recipes like chicken curry, mutton curry, prawns curry and even good for making Biryani. This can be made easily at home and tastes several times better than store bought Garam masala.
Homemade fresh garam masala adds unique flavor and taste to the recipes. 



preparation Time   : 2 minutes

Quantity Ingredients for Garam Masala Recipe
1 tbsp Coriander seeds /  மல்லி 
1 tbspPepper Corns / மிளகு
1 tbspCumin seeds
1 tbspCloves / கிராம்பு
2 tbspFennel Seeds / சோம்பு
4Mace / ஜாவிதிரி 
8 Star anise / அன்னாசி பூ 
20Cardamom / ஏலக்காய் 
4 inchCinnamon stick / பட்டை
2 Bay leaves / பிரியாணி இலை


Cooking Method


Dry roast all the whole spices on a low heat .Be very careful while roasting, do not burn the masalas (it may taste bitter if burnt)


Turn off the heat and let it cool completely. Once cooled transfer it to a blender and grind it to a fine powder.

That's it our homemade garam masala is ready , store it in an air tight container and use it later. This masala can be used to make all non veg recipes and biryani.
