Homemade Ghee Recipe / Clarified Butter

This recipe is all about how to make ghee at home? Ghee / Clarified Butter is one of the most important things which has no substitute and nothing can replace the taste and flavor of homemade ghee.This is very very easy to make and its quite cheap in cost compared to store bought ones.Any Indian sweet like 7 cup Burfi , Jalebi , Rava laddu ,Milk peda , Laddu , Mysore pak etc....are incomplete with this aromatic ghee.Not only for sweets ghee plays a vital role in making Prawns Ghee roast, Chicken Ghee Roast , Mutton Ghee roast and the unique taste of biryani come from this Ghee. This is very easy to make all we need is butter and a sauce pan.Lets start the preparation.

Cooking Method


Step 1) In a sauce pan add the butter sticks and melt over medium heat, stirring it gently from time to time.You can also roughly cut the butter and add to seep up the process.once melted there will be a white foam at the surface and at the bottom there will be a bright yellow butter layer.

Step 2) After 7-10 minutes the bubbles will gradually get smaller and will subside and the milk solids will start to brown and settle at the bottom of the pan.once the bubbles sets and solid particles settles down turn off the heat.Add 4-5 curry leaves or drumstick leaves to get very good flavor (its purely optional)

Step 3) Strain it through a cheese cloth to separate the milk solids.Allow the ghee to cool completely and then store in an airtight container and use it whenever needed.

Our easy to make home made ghee is ready in no time,store this in an airtight container and use to on the top of rice or use this to make any of your favorite sweets.when the ghee is hot it will be oily and will have a bright golden color and once it cools down the ghee will turn into solid pale yellow color.
