Rava Gulab Jamun is a famous Indian sweet recipe often distributed during Diwali, Christmas, Parties, weddings and lot more. When I was staying in hostel I often craved for homemade jamuns and my mom used to prepare this delicious tasty Jamuns whenever I go home. This is the first thing I eat in the morning as soon as I reach home.
We can make Gulab jamuns from Khoya , Milk powder Jamun , Bread and even with Rava . Khoya is a traditional way but since it is  little difficult to find in all stores I have shared a simple and easy Jamun recipe using Rava .  It requires just few basic ingredients like Rava, Milk , water and sugar. Lets start the preparation.

Serving Size           : 5 people (Makes 20 Pieces)

Preparation Time  : 5 minutes

Cooking Time        : 10 minutes
Difficulty:
Quantity Ingredients for Gulab Jamun Recipe
1/2 cup Rava (100g)
1.5 cup  Milk (375 ml)
2 tsp  Ghee

For Sugar Syrup
1 cup Sugar (200g)
1.5 cup Water (375 ml)
3Cardamom pods
1/2 tsp Lemon Juice
few Saffron strands

Cooking Method

Step 1) Dough:
Dry roast rava in a pan over medium heat for 3- 4 minutes. Then add milk ,ghee and mix well. Cook over medium heat until all the milk is been absorbed and becomes a tight dough. Transfer it to a bowl and let it cool for some time. Now knead it atleast 5 minutes.
After kneading take a small portion of the dough a roll it into small balls, there should not be any cracks on the outside of the balls, it should be soft and smooth.

Step 2) Sugar Syrup:
Into a pan add sugar and water to cover the sugar , once the sugar dissolves and comes to a boil turn down the heat to low and let it simmer for 8 -10 minutes. Sugar syrup should not reach 1 string consistency, if it reaches 1 string consistency then the syrup will not penetrate more efficiently into the jamuns.
Once it reaches half string , add a few drops of lemon juice to prevent sugar crystallization also add crushed cardamom pods for flavoring and few strands of saffron ( optional)

Step 3) Frying:
Heat oil or ghee in a pan, Temperature of the oil should be medium it should not be high , if you drop a small portion of the dough it should come to the surface of the oil immediately whith out changing it color, if it becomes brown then the oil is very hot and if it stays down for a long time then the temperature of the oil is not hot enough.
Once you get that temperature, drop the balls and fry until golden brown. do not over crowd the oil , leave enough room for frying also use more oil the jamuns should be fully immersed into the oil.  In between swirl it with a spoon to ensure even browning.

Step 4) Soaking :
Once the balls develop nice uniform golden brown color take it off from the oil and drop it into the sugar syrup. If the sugar syrup is cooled then we need to warm it up for 1 minute before adding the jamuns. Let the balls soak in the syrup for minimum 5-6 hours before serving.

That's it our Gulab Jamuns using  Rava is ready to be served. Its quite simple and really easy to make, all we need is Rava , milk , sugar and water.
