Bhel Puri Recipe

Bhel Puri is a famous Indian street food which has a sweet and sour taste loaded with crunchy sev, mixture, peanuts and lot more. This recipe can be made in no time, this makes a beautiful chat recipe which is enjoyed by all groups of people. Lets get started.

Quantity Ingredients for Bhel puri Recipe

For Green Chutney
1/2 cup Mint leaves
1/2 cupCoriander leaves
1 inch Ginger 
2 Green Chilies
1/2 tsp Lemon juice 

Salt to taste

For Tamarind Chutney
10-12  strand Tamarind (1 cup)
5-6 Dates
1/4 cup Jaggery
1/2 tspChili powder

Salt to taste

For Bhel Puri
3 cup Pori /  puffed rice
1/4 cup Mixture
1/4 cupSev / omapodi
1/2 Onion (finely chopped)
1/2  Tomato (finely chopped)
1/2 cup cooked Chickpea
boiled Potato
1 grated Carrot
1/4 cup fried Peanut
4-5 Pani puri (optional)
2 Green chilies
1/2 tspChili powder
1/2-1 tspChat masala
1 tbspLemon juice
2 tbspCoriander leaves

Salt to taste

Cooking Method


Step 1) Lets start with making green Chutney /  Pudina chutney. Into a blender add mint leaves, Coriander leaves, Green chilies, Ginger, salt and lemon juice. If required add a little bit of water and grind it to a smooth paste.


Step 2) Soak the tamarind in water for 15 minutes and squeeze the pulp, add it to a pan and also add in dates, jaggery, chili powder and required salt. Let it boil for sometime. Once it thickens turn off the heat and let to cool. Grind it to a fine paste and keep it aside.


Step 3) Into a large mixing bowl add pori, mixture, sev / omapodi, Onion, tomato, cooked chickpea / kondakadalai, potato, carrot, peanuts, pani puri(optional), green chilies, chili powder, chat masala, lemon juice, coriander leaves, salt, 2-3 tbsp green chutney for step 1 , 2-3 tbsp tamarind chutney from step 2 and mix well with a spoon.
We can also add black channa, green mangoes, cooked green gram , sprouts etc..


That's it our delicious Bhel puri is ready to be served, Before serving garnish with sev and some coriander leaves on the top. Serve it immediately to maintain freshness and crispiness.
