Lemon Chicken Recipe

Lemon Chicken is an awesome recipe from the Chinese cuisine which is very easy to make and it tastes absolutely delicious.The lemon sauce prepared for this recipe has a balanced taste with refreshing flavors and you are going to love each and every bite of chicken. The Chicken is well seasoned and marinated so that it stays soft and tender and then coated in flour to stay crispy after frying the pieces. Then the fried chicken is coated with the lemon sauce so the chicken stays juicy for a long time. This lemon Chicken is an ultimate combination with fried rice.

Quantity Ingredients for Lemon Chicken Recipe

For Marinade
1/2 Kg Chicken (bonelss chicken)
1 tbspSOY sauce
1 Egg
1 tbsp Lemon Juice
1/2 tsp  Pepper

Salt
1/2 cupCorn flour / corn starch (for coating) 

For Lemon sauce
1/4 cup  Lemon Juice (from 2 large lemons) 
2 TbspHoney or Sugar
2 TbspCorn flour / corn starch
1 inchGinger
1 tsp Lemon Zest
1 TbspOil
1 cupWater 

Cooking Method


Step 1) Marinade for Chicken:
Mix Soy sauce, egg, lemon juice salt and pepper in a bowl and then add the chicken pieces and combine everything well.Set it aside for 15-20 minutes.Use boneless chicken for this recipe and cut the chicken into medium sized pieces .

Step 2) Corn flour coating:
After 20 minutes of marination coat the chicken pieces well with corn flour and make sure the corn flour sticks all around the chicken .

Step 3) Frying the Chicken:
Fry the coated chicken in oil until they are nice and crispy.Once the chicken is cooked well drain it from the oil and keep it aside.

Step 4)  Lemon Sauce:
Combined lemon juice (from 2 large lemons), honey or sugar, corn flour and water in a bowl and mix well to dissolve it completely. You can also add chicken stock instead of water to enhance the flavor. Corn flour is added to thicken the base. Honey or sugar is added to get a balanced taste you can always adjust the amount of honey according to your taste.

Step 5) Lemon Chicken Recipe:
Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a pan and add chopped ginger and saute it for a few seconds. Then add the prepared lemon sauce from step 4 and mix well, before adding the lemon sauce mix it really well to ensure no sedimentation.Within few minutes the base will thicken now at this stage add lemon zest (grate skin of half lemon) and mix well.
Finally add the Fried chicken and mix well with the lemon sauce and cook for one more minute.

 Garnish the lemon Chicken with some sesame seeds and chopped spring onions and serve.

Ingredients:
  • For the Marinade
  • 1/2 Kg Chicken (bonelss chicken)

  2. Coat the chicken in corn flour and fry the pieces
  3. In a bowl combine lemon juice, honey,corn flour, water and mix well
  4. Saute ginger in oil for few seconds and add the sauce mixture
  5. Once thickened add lemon zest and add the fried chicken pieces and cook for a minute
  6. Finally Garnish it with some sesame seeds and spring onions
