Crab Curry with Coconut Milk

This Crab Curry with Coconut Milk recipe was sent to me by a friend named Pradeep Rajkumar from Pollachi. Crabs are one of my favorite sea foods.Myself and my husband are very font of crabs and we love crabs more than any other non-veg foods.No matter how we make it dry ,semi- gravy,chettinad crab curry it deserves a spot on your plate. The coconut milk added to this crab curry at the end of the recipe offers so much taste and flavor compared to other crab masalas. This Nandu Kulambu (crab curry) is a definite must try recipe. Quantity INGREDIENT
1/2 kg crab ( Nandu )

For Grinding
Onions
4 Garlic cloves
1 piece Ginger
2 tbsp Kashmiri Chili powder
1 tsp Cumin Powder
1 tsp Fennel powder
1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
1/2 tsp Poppy Seeds / Kasakasa
1 Tbsp Coriander Powder
2 Tbsp Curry Powder
1/2 cup For Crab Curry
2 Tbsp Gingelly Oil 
few Curry leaves
Tomatoes
1-2 cups Coconut Milk

Water 

Salt to Taste

Cooking Method



Step 1) in a blender add onions, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, poppy seeds, fennel powder, Garlic, Ginger ,Curry powder and chili power (I have used 2 Tbsp of kashmiri chili powder to get a nice color if you are using regular chili powder use 2 tsp).Grind it into a very fine paste.

Step 2) Heat Gingelly oil then add some curry leaves and then the freshly ground masala paste and cook for few minutes (add some water if required).Then add chopped tomatoes,salt and cook until tomatoes turns into a paste

Step 3) once the gravy thickens up a bit add in the cleaned and scored crabs(it is very important to score the crabs,only then the masalas will penetrate more efficiently into the crabs)and cook until the crabs are 50% cooked.
Then add coconut milk and again cover and cook until the crabs are fully done.

Our Delicious Crab curry is ready to be enjoyed with Rice. This awesome Pollachi Special Crab curry also goes very well with Chapathi, Bread, Roti and even Bread.
